Computer networks
When we say networks, what exactly does it mean? Have you ever thought of it?
In the previous lesson, we talked about the internet as the concept of computer communication. In this section, we will discover that the internet itself is made up of numerous other networks. The following clip explains computer networks a little bit more.
A computer network is simply a group of computers that are connected and can share information with each other. Think of it like a neighbourhood — each house (computer) has an address, and there are roads (connections) that let people (data) travel between them.
This raises some interesting questions: How do computers identify themselves on a network? How do they share information securely without someone intercepting it? We will answer these questions in the next section, where we discuss Protocols — the rules that keep computer communication organized and safe.
